“Then and Now” The history of Silent Partner...
It started in 1986 with the Pietosi brothers (Al and Lou) and the Zucco brothers (Jake and Mark) agreeing to start a band together in the Zucco’s basement. All that was needed was a bass player and long time friend Dave Keller stepped in. He moved away in 1987 and another old friend, Randy VanHulten, came on to form the current version of the band.
It was a quick turnaround as gigs were available, a name was created, and Silent Partner was born. This was the 80’s and getting all your friends together, jumping in someone’s car and going out to see a band was a way of life for many of us!
Silent Partner went on strong for years, playing 2 to 3 times a week all over the tri-state area. When not playing live, the band was recording or practicing once and sometimes twice a week. It had taken on a life of it’s own, And for many years they continued playing their special kind of “brother to brother” music, filled with classic rock cover tunes and their originals. Eventually, with full time jobs and families, they were pushed to the limit and mutually agreed to stop playing and take a much needed break, while remaining in close contact with each other.
Several years later, in 2008, when Lou asked his 30 year HS class reunion committee about entertainment for the evening, he volunteered to call on his old band mates about playing this “one time” event. Silent Partner played that class reunion and hasn’t stopped since. They continue “getting the old band back together” and have never sounded better! Come see for yourself as the band continues on their perpetual “Then and Now Tour”!
